The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…

DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.

Three missing women running out of time…

They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life.

The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…

But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.

Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.

Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…

Now let’s move onto Noelle’s interview with Maggie Jamieson.

Thank you for finding the time to talk to me, Maggie. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m DC Maggie Jamieson and I work in the Major and Organised Crime Department at Stafford Police Station. I have over ten years experience as a Detective and have recently finished a secondment in the Domestic Abuse and Homicide Unit. I live with my brother at the moment – long story so I won’t bore you with that – but we had been estranged for some time so it’s nice getting to know him again! I’m single, have a cat named Scrappy and I enjoy reading.

Has there been any specific case that affected you more than others and if you could tell us a bit about that without breaching any rules, that would be great!

I think most police officer’s have a case or two that get under their skin. Mine would be Bill Raven – you can read all about him in the papers. He’s serving a life sentence and if I have anything to do with it, he won’t ever get parole. I’ve heard people describe certain killers as having a cold stare – this guy is an ice storm!

What would you say are your strengths? Do you think others would agree with you?

I’m not sure others would agree with me, but I think some of my strengths are my determination, my loyalty, my dedication to the job. I’ve heard people describe me as arrogant, and I am working on how I come across but I think I just follow my instinct and sometimes that means I may step on the toes of others. I take on board what others say, but I have a lot of experience and stick to my guns.

What would you say are your weaknesses?

I can be a bit closed off. I can be a bit of a hot head and I’m way too stubborn.  I struggle a lot with my confidence at times – believe it or not – and find it hard to tell others how I feel about them. That may be a bit immature, but I think everyone has this within them at times. Life isn’t always easy and putting up a wall to pretend you’re something can be both a help and a hindrance. Did I mention I also ramble….

Confession time! What would be the worst thing you’ve ever done?

Oh christ. Probably when I was a kid. I punched my brother in the nose just to see what happened. It bled a lot. I think it was his first nose bleed. I then made him promise not to tell my parents or I would do it again. That’s pretty bad, right?

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?

I’m quite a homebody but I’ve always wanted to go to Canada. So maybe in some small town in Canada. Wonder if I could join the Mounted Police?

What, if anything, would you change about your life?

I wish I had travelled more in my younger days. After uni, I joined the police force and never really travelled. It might be why I am such a homebody. So maybe I just wish I was more adventurous – that would be useful in other aspects of my life too.

I can see from your bookshelves you’re an avid reader. What book would you recommend to others?

I’ve hardly had a chance to read much with work – it’s been once case after another. I’d have to say, I love a bit of gangland crime and recommend you check out The Boss by Caz Finlay.

Great interview, Noelle and Maggie. Can’t wait to read Dead Wrong, I was totally gripped by Dead Inside. Here’s the book cover and blurb for Dead Inside, Noelle’s debut novel.

Dead Inside - high-res

The killer is just getting started…

When three wife beaters are themselves found beaten to death, DC Maggie Jamieson knows she is facing her toughest case yet.

The police suspect that Probation Officer Lucy Sherwood – who is connected to all three victims – is hiding a dark secret. Then a fourth domestic abuser is brutally murdered.

And he is Lucy’s husband.

Now the police are running out of time, but can Maggie really believe her friend Lucy is a cold-blooded killer?
